TRYTON: dedicated stent for bifurcations not inferior than the provisional technic

This study compared the clinical and angiographic results of the use of the provisional stent technique versus the 2 stents technique (TRYTON device at the side branch) in true bifurcations.

The study with non-inferiority design, randomized 704 patients in total to drug-eluting stent in the main branch plus the TRYTON device in the side branch (n = 355) versus drug-eluting stent in the main branch and provisional stent in the side branch (n = 349), followed up to 9 months. The primary end point was a composite of cardiac death, peri-procedure myocardial infarction and repeat revascularization of target vessel. No differences in the primary end point to 9 months to a year between the two groups were observed.

Conclusion

The strategy of provisional stenting versus 2 stents using the TRYTON device was similar to 9 months to a year to treat true bifurcations.
