The benefit of myocardial revascularization (angioplasty or surgery) guided by fractional flow reserve (FFR) in the context of acute coronary syndromes is poorly studied in the literature.
The aim of this study was to compare myocardial revascularization guided by FFR versus Angiography in patients admitted suffering a non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction.
350 patients were randomized observing after one-year follow-up, a minor need for revascularization, either surgery or angioplasty, in the FFR group (79% versus 86%). The percentage of patients receiving medical treatment only was also greater with the use of FFR (27% versus 13.2%). No significant differences in mortality or quality of life between groups were observed.
