LISTEN: Rosuvastatin versus atorvastatin in Japanese diabetic patients

The treatment of hyperlipidemia is useful in primary and secondary prevention of chronic heart disease and stroke, particularly in diabetic patients. Many statins may interfere with glycemic profile of patients and there is no information between different drugs for some specific populations. 1049 patients randomized to rosuvastatin (n = 524) versus atorvastatin (n = 504) with a minimum follow-up of 12 months were included. LDL cholesterol reduction was greater in the atorvastatin group although no differences in clinical events were observed.
