POST -IT: The FFR modifies strategy in almost half of patients

The use of FFR to guide treatment showed improved outcomes in previous studies. However, there are few data on the routine use of the method and its impact on modifying therapeutic decisions for injury and by patient. The aim of this study was to evaluate the routine use of FFR in the real world. All patients who underwent coronary angiography and had at least one injury assessed with FFR were included.

Before measuring, a treatment plan by injury and patient (medical treatment, angioplasty, surgery) was traced and subsequently measuring a total of 1293 lesions (1.4 lesions per patient) observing that the original plan was modified with the FFR result in 45% of the lesions and44.3 % of patients. In patients with primary decision of surgical treatment, only 56 % maintained indication while in 25% finally received angioplasty and 19% medical treatment.

Conclusion

In this multicenter registry that included a significant proportion of patients with acute coronary syndrome, routine FFR modified treatment plan in almost half of cases.
