UK TAVI Registry: Long-term results of TAVI in the UK

This record has been created in order to evaluate the results of percutaneous aortic valve replacement in the UK and currently includes more than 4500 patients with 100% follow-up for mortality. The 3-year mortality was 61.6 % beyond the device or path. Atrial fibrillation, renal failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and a EuroSCORE > 18.5 were independent predictors of mortality in the multivariate analysis.

As related to the procedure and type of prosthesis, aortic regurgitation presence or the need for pacemaker did not reach statistical significance for predicting mortality. The 5-year survival was almost 50 %.

Conclusion

The long-term survival after TAVI is determined more by intrinsic patient factors than for process factors.
