SOLACI Research held two outstanding scientific sessions at SOLACI-SOCIME 2025

During the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress, the largest interventional cardiology event in Latin America, the SOLACI Research Department organized two scientific sessions that brought together international experts to share the latest research and advances in the fields of structural cardiology and angioplasty.

The first session, titled Guidelines and Evidence in Structural Treatments, was coordinated by Camilo Gómez (USA) and Oscar Millán (Mexico), with panelist Eduardo De Marchena (USA). This session addressed the following topics:

  • Santiago García (USA) presented Robotic Transcatheter Mitral Replacement, offering a look into the future of robotic technology in transcatheter mitral valve replacement.
  • Flavio Ribichini (Italy) spoke about Aortic Valve, providing an update on the management and treatment of the aortic valve in interventional procedures.
  • Mayra Guerrero (USA) discussed Mitral Valve Disease, giving a comprehensive overview of mitral valve diseases and their therapeutic approaches.

The session concluded with a discussion space, where attendees exchanged ideas on the latest advances and best practices in structural cardiology.

The second session, titled SOLACI Research, was coordinated by Pablo Lamelas (Argentina) and Flavio Ribichini (Italy), with Dr. Omar Santaera (Argentina), SOLACI Treasurer, serving as panelist.

Pablo Lamelas opened the session by presenting the results of the Latin American Coronary Bifurcation Registry (LATAM-Bif SOLACI), highlighting the importance of this database in better understanding the characteristics and challenges of coronary bifurcations in the region. This was followed by presentations addressing key topics in the treatment of the left main coronary artery and other fundamental aspects of angioplasty.

    • Ricardo Costa (Brazil) presented The “Must-Know” for Left Main Coronary Artery Angioplasty, an analysis of the essential aspects in left main coronary artery angioplasty.
    • Patricia Aubanel (Mexico), Alejandro Ricalde (Mexico), and Pablo Lamelas (Argentina) discussed the SOLACI/SIAC 2024 Clinical Guidelines for Left Main Coronary Artery Angioplasty, revealing the latest clinical guidelines for treating this complex condition.
    • Héctor García García (USA) spoke on Predictors of Stent Failure, highlighting the predictive factors for stent failure and their impact on clinical outcomes.

The session ended with an enriching discussion on the challenges and future perspectives in the field of angioplasty.

Both sessions showcased the high academic level of the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress and the ongoing work of SOLACI Research in promoting research, professional development, and knowledge exchange within the Latin American interventional cardiology community.
