Letter from the President 2013-2015

By Jamil Abdalla Saad
SOLACI President.

Dear friends and colleagues,

With great honor, we assume the SOLACI presidency for 2013-2015. The commitment to exercising command on a continental society, succeeding three illustrious predecessors, is always a challenge and this time is renewed in observing Brazil. The governing board is completed by Ricardo Lluberas MD (Uruguay – Vice President), José Luis Leiva Pons MD (Mexico – Secretary), and Jose Alvarez MD (Argentina – treasurer), along with the corresponding regions’ designated members.

With enthusiasm, confidence, teamwork, and tolerance, we expect to exceed our regional communication differences as well as celebrate our union. The effort started in previous administrations left us a legacy of exchanges and reciprocal relationships with major international cardiology societies: ACC, TCT-CRF (Transcatheter Therapeutics), SCAI (Interventional Cardiology of America), and Euro-PCR. Although these relationships are well established, there will always be room for consolidation and improvement.

Expanding the presence, even in remote regions, scientific updates especially at a distance and making records on specific issues will be a priority in the mandate. What is even more outstanding is the still great interest of clinical cardiologists in participating in our events, which is an essential point for the universal access of all patients to the most current treatments available to treat their diseases and the ultimate goal of all specialty societies.

All of this will be possible only with the intense participation and integration of our partners in all of our activities. Join us in this noble effort and ideal for many.
