Editorial Comment of Dr. Leandro Lasave on the 8th edition of the José Gabay Fellow Course

Dear colleagues in Latin America,

I am greatly pleased to inform that the 8th edition of the Interventional Trainees Course, “José Gabay,” organized by ProEducar-SOLACI along with the Argentine College of Interventional Cardiology (CACI), took place on August 1st.

The success of this course, year after year, is based on its acceptance by the Latin American interventional community and, fundamentally, on the collaboration of world-renowned experts in this specialty.

This year was as intense as usual: the Course took place over 12 consecutive hours divided in five modules that covered from the most basic to the most complex topics in the field.

The Course included the participation of renowned interventional physicians who are members of the SOLACI community, such as Jorge Belardi, Hugo Londero, Daniel Berrocal, Oscar Mendiz, Juan Manuel Telayna, Ricardo Lluberas, José Luis Leiva Pons, Aníbal Damonte, José Alvarez, León Valdivieso, Jose Ribamar Costa, Raúl Arrieta, Henrique Ribeiro, Gustavo Vignolo, Alexandre Quadros, Ari Mandil, Maximiliano Rossi, and Mario Araya.

We were also honored by the participation of Dr. Juan Granada (Skirball Center, Columbia, USA) and Dr. Ricardo Petraco (Imperial College of London, UK).

Over 140 attendees from different Latin American countries stayed for the whole course and actively interacted with these experts. At the end of the course, there was an exam. The first and second best scores were awarded a scholarship for the upcoming SCAI in Las Vegas, and the third and fourth best scores were awarded a scholarship for the upcoming TCT Congress in Denver.

Once more, we have carried out the honorable task of organizing the course, maintaining its academic quality and, above all, the comradeship among colleagues in Latin America.

Leandro I. Lasave.

Director, ProEducar-SOLACI Fellows Course.
