Aiming at strengthening equality, promoting leadership and offering educational opportunities to Latin American female interventionists, SOLACI and SBHCI – through their areas MIL and MINT– carried out the “MINT / MIL Symposium: Play to Win” this las Thursday, as part of SOLACI-SBHCI 2023.

The activity, which took place at the URCA room of the Windsor Conventions Center (Barra da Tijuca) during the morning, featured renowned local and international keynote speakers, and a program fostering female leadership in the field, aiming at developing skills and smart strategies to build a successful professional career.

The initiative, resulting of the association of MIL and MINT, expresses the commitment of both Societies to the promotion of equality and growth opportunities across the continent.

The event started with a conference by Dr. Roxana Mehran, with an encouraging theme “Deconstructing limits: The importance of women in leadership positions.” The panel featured the participation of Dr. Glaucia Moraes, Dr. João Brum, and Dr. José Luis Pons, who presented important topics related to the construction and promotion of equity.

Next, the second panel discussion addressed “Developing essential skills and smart strategies for professional advancement.” Dr. Mayra Guerrero shared her personal journey and challenges while discussing “Women at the forefront: New cardiac technologies and professional perspectives.” Among other topics, Dr. Carla Agatiello, head of the interventional cardiology department at the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires-ARG and director of the MIL Group and Strutural TAVR Program (SOLACI), presented a list of plans and strategies for career advancement. The event included innovative topics for SBHCI and SOLACI, such as the use of social networks as an ally for professional development.

The event was supported by Red Dor and had the contribution of Dr. Olga Ferreira, the current National Director of Cardiology at Red Dor in Brazil, based in Rio de Janeiro. The panels were moderated by panelists who delivered encouraging speeches and new ideas on how to plan, develop, and promote the career of the Interventional Woman. MINT and MIL believe that strengthening discussions proposing strategies for personal growth is the path to equity in the profession and the greater success of women in interventional medicine.
