SOLACI Research Registries Continue to Grow

SOLACI Research department put us up to speed on their Research Registry progress during SOLACI-CACI 2024. Similarly, they shared the outcomes of the Latin American Clinical Guidelines carried out together with the Inter American Society of Cardiology: TAVR vs SAVR in Patients with Severe Aortic Stenosis (2021) and PCI vs CABG in Left Main Disease (2023). 

The presentation was held on August 8, 2024 at the Hilton Hotel Convention Center in Buenos Aires, room Buen Ayre C. The aim of this session was to share the Latin American experience with SOLACI Registries in different interventional cardiology scenarios. 

At the start of this session, Dr. Lucio Padilla (ARG) presented data from the Latin American Registry of Coronary Bifurcation Percutaneous Intervention – LATAM Bif -, so far enrolling over 2000 patients. During his presentation, Dr. Padilla, the main registry researcher, analyzed registry patient characteristics, bifurcation types we deal with in Latin America, the different bifurcation PCI strategies in LATAM, and of course the initiative outcomes. 

Dr. Gustavo Pedernera (ARG) followed with progress made on the LATAM SOLACI Peripheral Registry, this year reaching 1760 patients. During his talk, Dr. Pedernera reminded us of the main objectives of this novel research initiative (seeing as there are no other registries on lower limb angioplasty in our region) detailing the main stats and characteristics of data collected so far. Over the end, the Argentinian doctor pointed out that “being able to count on a registry shared with the whole of LATAM, with reliable data, will enable us to know and improve the treatment of peripheral artery disease, reducing amputations and cardiovascular risk.” 

Next, Dr. Henrique Ribeiro (BRA) presented the TAVR vs SAVR Clinical Guidelines in Patients with Severe Aortic Stenosis, and Dr. Pablo Lamelas (ARG), SOLACI Research Director, shared PCI vs CABG Guidelines in Left Main Disease, both product of the joint effort of SOLACI and the Inter American Society of Cardiology. 

The discussion panel was comprised of reputed medical doctors in the region such as Dr. Guering Eid-Lidt, Ernesto Torresani (ARG), Alfredo Bravo (ARG), Marcelo Halac (ARG), José Abelardo López (VEN) and Jesús García (VEN). In addition, Dr. José Leonidas Alves Jr presented a report on Katana Thrombectomy System cases.
