During the closing ceremony of SOLACI-CACI 2021 Congress, Dr. Aníbal Damonte (Argentina), renowned interventional cardiologist with an extensive career, assumed the presidency of SOLACI. He succeeded Dr. José Mangione, who held the position between 2019 and 2021 and successfully conducted the difficult task of maintaining and promoting all SOLACI activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Damonte is a Founding Member of SOLACI, and was the Vice President of its Board. Furthermore, he served as President of the Argentine College of Interventional Cardioangiologists (CACI) and is currently the Chief of the Department of Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology at Rosario Cardiovascular Institute (Argentina).

Dr. Mario Araya (Chile), former Director of SOLACI Sessions and President of the Department of Hemodynamics of the Chilean Society of Cardiology (SOCHICAR) for six years, will act as Vice President. Additionally, Dr. Pedro Hidalgo (Venezuela) and Dr. Omar Santaera (Argentina) are keeping their roles of Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.

During the Congress closing ceremony, Dr. Mangione shared his satisfaction over the work done and added: We wrap-up this chapter with a successful SOLACI-CACI 2021 Congress, the final flourish. I am certain that Aníbal and the new Board will do a very good and constructive job for the Society.”

Finally, Dr. Damone thanked Dr. Mangione for the work done over the years and wished that “we all meet again face to face in the SOLACI-SOCIME 2022 Congress.
