SOLACI-SBHCI 2023 Scientific Coverage – Day 3

The third day of the Congress started at the Copacabana Arena with the International Live Case held at Nanjing First Hospital, Nanjing, China, which showcased a successful and illustrative step-by-step Transcatheter Coronary Intervention (TCI) angioplasty with circulatory support and optimized results using Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) applicability. Following that, Dr. Fei Ye presented Intravascular Imaging and Angio-based Physiology guided complex left Main Bifurcation. Simultaneously, in the Ipanema hall, with the presence of Dr. Daniel Weilenmann and Dr. Mario Araya, an enriching discussion about the history and evolution of pharmacological balloon therapy took place, emphasizing its indications and applicability in various scenarios.

At the São Conrado Arena, an engaging round table discussion and live transmission of a Percutaneous Thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke case were conducted by Dr. Estevão Martins at the Galeão Air Force Hospital (HFAG) in Rio de Janeiro. This successful case encouraged interventional cardiology to expand its role in the field of cerebral reperfusion. The same topic was addressed in the innovative and novel simulator session at the Leme Arena, focusing on Trips-and-Tips.

During lunchtime, the congress attendees had numerous satellite symposiums, including the symposium presented by Boston Scientific Brasil, moderated by Kati Dias at Arena Arpoador, with the participation of Dr. Viviana Lenke and Dr. Fernanda Mangione, discussing questions and answers about the “Women’s Health Professional Network.”

The afternoon was focused on relevant topics, including Tricuspid and Mitral Perspectives, featuring the expertise of Dr. Eberhard Grube, Dr. Vinicius Esteves, Dr. Fabio Sândoli, Dr. Pablo Lamelas, Dr. Jorge Sandoval, and Dr. Bernard Prendergast. Simultaneously, at Arena Leme, a practical session on “Mitral Valve: Edge-to-Edge Therapy” took place using a virtual simulator.

The afternoon concluded with a panel of experts discussing the future, covering topics such as Valve Therapy in 2030, EuroPCR 2023, SCAI 2023, SOLACI-SBHCI 2023, and What to Expect TCT.
