SOLACI-SOCIME 2025: Day 1 Highlights

The first scientific day of the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress concluded with great success at Expo Santa Fe, Mexico City, gathering hundreds of interventional cardiology specialists. Packed conference rooms and a vibrant Commercial Exhibit set the stage for intensive academic activities designed to strengthen knowledge and advance medical practice in the specialty.

The morning kicked off in the Main Arena with two live cases transmitted from the United Kingdom and the National Institute of Cardiology. Additionally, two major joint sessions took place: one with TCT, focused on transcatheter treatment of chronic heart failure, and another with PCR, addressing complex TAVI scenarios.

In the Structural Hall, the SOLACI-SBHCI joint session on TAVI in women stood out, featuring experts from Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, and Venezuela. Discussions also covered the use of CT imaging in structural interventions, strategies for TAVI in heavily calcified rings, and valve-in-valve techniques in aortic, mitral, and tricuspid valves.

The Pediatrics Hall hosted a live case from the National Institute of Cardiology and multiple presentations on heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, pediatric pharmacological therapies, ventricular septal defects, as well as innovation and technology applied to pediatric interventional cardiology.

At midday, industry-sponsored Lunch Symposiums brought together global thought leaders to discuss TAVI, the use of OCT in angioplasty for calcified lesions, strategies for complex PCI, and professional development. Additionally, the ProEducar-SOLACI Fellow’s Corner lunch session featured challenging clinical case presentations.

The afternoon was marked by new national and international live cases from the United States and keynote lectures in the Main Arena Room. The Pediatrics Hall showcased the best abstracts and oral presentations, while the Structural Hall hosted a second joint session with PCR, this time focusing on TAVI and coronary artery disease. Meanwhile, technicians and nurses participated in innovative sessions in the Nursing Hall with specialized training content.

A special mention goes to the 15th ProEducar Fellows Course, which throughout the day delivered educational modules on vascular access, intravascular tools, educational cases, and complex coronary interventions (CHIP), as well as dedicated sessions on valvular diseases and step-by-step procedures such as LAAO, tricuspid regurgitation treatment, and pulmonary embolism management.

The day concluded with a keynote lecture by Dr. Juan Granada, reflecting on the evolution of cardiovascular medicine and the trends shaping the future of the specialty. Following that, the Opening Ceremony brought together SOLACI and SOCIME authorities to celebrate the brilliant start of this new edition of the Congress.

Thank you all for being part of this first day. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s summary of Day 2.
