LATAM BIF: Advances and the Latin American Coronary Bifurcation Registry at the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress

As part of the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress —the largest interventional cardiology meeting in Latin America— the scientific session LATAM BIF. LMCA PCI took place, organized by the LATAM Bif Group of SOLACI. The activity was held in the Structural Hall at Expo Santa Fé, the official venue of the Congress, and brought together international leaders to discuss and update knowledge on coronary bifurcation interventions, with a special focus on the left main coronary artery.

The session was coordinated by Drs. Jorge Carillo Calvillo (Mexico) and Pedro Hidalgo (Venezuela), with panelists Drs. Elihu Durán Cortés (Mexico) and Sebastián Lluberas (Uruguay), who enriched each presentation with their clinical expertise and insights.

The program covered highly relevant topics for interventional practice:

  • Left Main Angioplasty in LATAM BIF, by Dr. Ricardo Costa (Brazil), who provided an overview of left main coronary artery angioplasty in the region, highlighting local particularities and outcomes.
  • State of the Art of LMCA PCI, by Dr. Goran Stankovic (Serbia), offering a comprehensive update on the latest techniques and evidence for percutaneous coronary intervention of the left main coronary artery.
  • Intracoronary Imaging in LMCA, by Dr. Héctor García (United States), reviewing the crucial role of intracoronary imaging techniques in optimizing outcomes for these procedures.

The session concluded with an open discussion, where experts and attendees exchanged experiences and perspectives on the management of complex lesions.

During the session, the importance of the Latin American Coronary Bifurcation Registry, coordinated by SOLACI, was emphasized as a strategic tool to generate local evidence, improve clinical practice, and strengthen collaboration among regional centers.

The high quality of the speakers, combined with the scientific and collaborative approach of the LATAM Bif Group, positioned this session as a benchmark of academic excellence and a driving force for research in interventional cardiology.
