SOLACI Sessions: Challenges in the Implementation of TAVI Programs in Latin America

As part of the SOLACI-SOCIME 2025 Congress —the largest interventional cardiology event in Latin America— the session SOLACI Sessions: Challenges in the Implementation of TAVI Programs in LATAM took place, organized by the SOLACI Sessions Area. The activity was held in Hall A3 (Structural Hall) at Expo Santa Fé, the official venue of the Congress, and brought together prominent specialists from across the region to discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) programs in different Latin American countries.

JORNADAS SOLACI

Coordinated by Dr. Márcio Montenegro (Brazil) and featuring an outstanding panel composed of Drs. Pablo Lamelas (Argentina), Alfaro Marchena (Panama), Clarissa Dall’Orto Campo (Brazil) and Luis Mejía (Peru), the session offered a comprehensive overview of the current situation and future outlook of TAVI in the region.

The program included country-specific presentations:

  • TAVI Challenges in Ecuador, by Dr. Marcos Ortega (Ecuador).
  • TAVI Challenges in Guatemala, by Dr. Juan Carlos García (Guatemala).
  • TAVI Challenges in Peru, by Dr. César Conde (Peru).
  • TAVI Challenges in Venezuela, by Dr. Andrea Robaina (Venezuela).

In addition, Dr. Pablo Lamelas (Argentina) presented an illustrative clinical case, followed by a joint commentary and discussion among speakers and attendees.

The quality of the participating specialists, along with the regional and multidisciplinary approach, made this session a key meeting point to share experiences, identify common challenges, and outline strategies to strengthen the implementation of TAVI programs in Latin America.
