About the SOLACI Sessions

The Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology (SOLACI) promotes the study of medicine and the implementation of best practices in cardiovascular care in the field of cardiac catheterization, and organizes major scientific events on interventional cardiology in Latin America and the Caribbean. We organize Regional Sessions to promote interventional cardiology in each country with the...

WOEST: Randomized trial that compared dual therapy versus triple therapy on anticoagulated patients.

A multicenter randomized study, (n = 573), that evaluated the role of aspirin in anticoagulated patients undergoing angioplasty. The primary endpoint was the rate of total bleeding, (TIMI), at 12 months follow-up. The administration of a dual therapy, (warfarin + clopidogrel), showed a significant reduction compared with the triple therapy, (19.5% vs. 44.9%, P <0.001)....

TASTE: Thrombus aspiration in primary angioplasty failed to show benefits at 30 days

The clinical benefit of thrombus aspiration during angioplasty in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction is uncertain. The purpose of this work was to test if thrombus aspiration reduces mortality. This was a multicenter, prospective, randomized and controlled study that included patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction within 24 hours of evolution. The catheters used...

SOLACI -SIAC collaboration agreement

As the President of the Interamerican Society of Cardiology, (SIAC), I am honored to sign this important agreement with SOLACI. Our societies have an enormous responsibility to improve cardiology in Latin America and we know that this is not an easy task: we are nations with different backgrounds, sometimes different languages and at different stages...

SOLACI relaunches its SOLidario program in Colombia

The Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology successfully relaunched its SOLidario program, practicing the implantation of an aortic valve catheter (TAVI) in the Instituto de Angiografía de Occidente at Cali. It was during the XXIV SOLACI Conference edition held on October 30 and 31 in Colombia. SOLACI understands the need to develop a social...

In a decade, minimally invasive procedures will replace open-heart surgery entirely

Minimally invasive interventions allow us to respond to any complications related to the heart, so it is expected to decrease open-heart surgery dramatically; in a decade, minimally invasive procedures definitely replace conventional surgery. This was highlighted on Wednesday during the XXV Meeting of the Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology of the Spanish Society of Cardiology...
